Americans love pizza, and they manage to consume more than 30 million slices of pizza every day. That’s at a rate of 350 slices every minute – Wow!

Pizza is a multi-billion dollar industry and more than $25 billion is spent every year on the humble pizza.

From 1998- 2006 a survey by the School Nutrition Association discovered that pizza was consistently the favorite choice for school lunch.

Pizza is very popular in Brazil. Sao Paulo is called the ‘Pizza capital of the World’ and has 6000 pizza businesses serving 1.4 million slices every day.

The largest pizza was made at the Norwood hypermarket in Johannesburg, South Africa in 1990. It was 37.4 metres in diameter and took 500kg flour, 800kg cheese, and 900kg tomato sauce.

The most expensive pizza was made by Domenico Crolla and raised £2,150 for charity. It included sun blush tomato sauce, Scottish smoked salmon, venison, edible gold, lobster marinated in cognac and caviar.

The longest pizza delivery was 10,532 miles. Lucy Clough of Domino’s Pizza baked a vegetarian supreme pizza in London and delivered it two days later in Melbourne, Australia.
