San Pellegrino Restaurant Rankings
Highlighting the Top Rated Restaurants in the United States
On April 18, the 10th Annual S. Pellegrino World's 50 Best Restaurants Awards ceremony was held in London, England. The list of award winners was compiled by Restaurant Magazine to highlight the finest chefs, international media and most influential restaurateurs through the world.
The top rated American restaurant on the San Pellegrino World’s list is Alinea, which came in as the number six restaurant in the world. Alinea is a three-star Michelin Restaurant. Chef and owner Grant Achatz was selected as Outstanding Chef in the United States by the James Beard Foundation in 2008. This Chicago restaurant is known for serving up deconstructed classical dishes such as sushi and Caesar salad. Diners have the choice of a 6, 12 and 30 course meal. The menu is ever changing.
Per Se in Manhattan’s Columbus Circle is the number 10 restaurant on the San Pellegrino World’s Best Restaurant list. This three star Michelin restaurant is the urban interpretation of The French Laundry. Per Se changes its menu daily, with over 30,000 dishes served in eight years. Each day, there is are two unique nine-course tasting menus. Each menu with a series of small, focused dishes focused on a particular ingredients. The plates are designed to excite your mind, satisfy your appetite and pique your curiosity.
Daniel Boulud’s eponymous New York restaurant, Daniel, was selected as the 11th best restaurant on the San Pellegrino 50 Best Restaurant World List. The menu at Daniel’s is contemporary French cuisine that pays particular emphasis on seasonal ingredients. The food at Daniel’s may be recognizable and traditional, but it is the bells and whistles that the kitchen adds that make this eatery standout. Throughout the multiple course meal, the kitchen perfectly ties together different parts of the dish and the entire meal seamlessly.
Chef Eric Ripert’s Le Bernardin is the number 18 restaurant on the San Pellegrino 50 Best Restaurants List. Fish is the star at this New York City eatery. Le Bernardin, a French restaurant, has a menu filled with items such as red snapper, monkfish and lobster. To maintain the integrity of the fish, almost all items are served almost raw, barely touched or lightly cooked. Le Bernardin is often described as being the most influential seafood restaurant in American. Each type of seafood is prepared with seasoning, sauces and cooking techniques designed to bring out the delicate and distinct taste of the fish.
Jumping 26 spots to #24 on the San Pellegrino 50 Best List is the New York eatery Eleven Madison Park. This move made it the second highest climber on this year’s list. The menu format at Eleven Madison Park combines the surprise of a tasting menu with the control of a la carte dining. Dishes are listed by their primary ingredient and guests can share their likes and dislikes when ordering to create a custom-made meal. Chef Daniel Humm uses grounded French techniques for the classically dishes that typically feature a modern flare.

Bobby lives in Scottsdale, Arizona with his wife and three children and serves on the Board of Directors of The Arizona Restaurant Association as well as the Phoenix-Metro American Cancer Society. His current projects include Restaurants Against Cancer where Bobby is rallying the restaurant community to support camps for kids with cancer by donating the food and supplies needed to run the camps.
